AKGAKG

All around the world, recording studios, radio and TV stations, opera houses, theaters and famous stages rely on the quality of AKG products. Internationally renowned musicians and stars have been using AKG microphones and headsets for decades.

Today, AKG is a market leader in high-quality microphones, headphones and wireless equipment.

AKG was founded in Vienna in 1947 by Dr. Rudolf Goerike and Ersnt Pless, and within a few months became a respected brand used in radio stations, theaters and jazz clubs. At the time, the products (the AKG DYN series) were handmade by five workers.

In 1949, the first AKG headphones appeared on the market. In the early '50s, AKG made a name for itself with a range of new products based on groundbreaking technologies, such as the world's first high-quality condenser microphone, the D12 with its cardioid characteristics, the first remote-controlled multi-pattern microphone, the C 12 and the D 36, which made acoustic history. One of the first customers and users of the C 12 microphone was the BBC in London.

The company expanded internationally throughout the 60s. In the 70s, AKG continued to build on its success with a host of innovations, including the BX 20, the very first portable studio reverb unit, and the K 140 headphones. At the end of the 70s, the first promotion contracts were signed with Frank Sinatra, Roger Whittaker, Falco and other artists.

In 1984, AKG went public and began a new phase of growth and international expansion (including the acquisition of DBX Professional Products in 1989). In 1994, AKG became part of Harman International Indistries, Inc. Years of restructuring, product line improvement and distribution strategy follow.

1995 sees the introduction of the world's smallest dual-diaphragm system: the CK 77/C 577 - powerful sound, smaller than a thumbnail, specially designed for theater, TV and cinema. AKG also develops the Performer Series: affordable microphones for karaoke, home-recording...

In 2007, AKG celebrates its sixtieth anniversary with a resolutely forward-looking attitude...
