Advanced IP network communication and streaming
The GY-HM250 is equipped with JVC's latest IP communication engine, allowing you to remotely control and monitor essential camera and lens functions from a tablet, smartphone or computer anywhere in the world. Live streaming is possible in HD or lower resolution, depending on available bandwidth. JVC's AST (Advanced Streaming Technology) includes Zixi Forward Error Correction with ARQ and SMPTE 2022 Forward Error Correction, providing high-quality streams even in difficult conditions. RTMP protocol makes it easy to stream your live feeds to content delivery networks such as Facebook, YouTube and IBM Cloud. Just press a button and you're streaming to the world!
Graphics and titling solutions for a single camera operator
Designed for enhanced single-camera production, the GY-HM250 offers lower-third and full-screen titling solutions for recorded or streamed HD video output without an external character generator or video mixer. Lower-third graphic overlays are generated and controlled using a browser-equipped device, such as a tablet or smartphone. JVC's software utility allows customers to upload logos or icons to be displayed in the lower third of the recorded video. The camera also comes with several pre-installed color schemes, and there's also the option of adding your own text bar designs. The new GY-HM250 is perfect for streaming broadcast news, weddings, school, family and religious events, or literally any occasion you want to share live!
Integrated 12x Ultra HD lens, 1/2.3" CMOS sensor
High-quality imaging starts with a precision 12x F1.2-3.5 optical zoom (35mm equivalent: 29.6-355mm). JVC's 4K CMOS sensor with 12.4 million pixels offers high sensitivity and excellent performance in a wide range of lighting conditions. Details are crisp and sharp across the entire image plane. When shooting in HD mode, dynamic zoom combines optical zoom and pixel mapping to create a lossless 24x zoom. This gives the camera a long zoom range while retaining its small form factor. Shooters will also appreciate the handy ND filter wheel: 0, 1/4 and 1/16.
Ultra HD 4K recording at 150 Mbps and direct output
Working in 4K has never been so easy! Insert an SDHC or SDXC memory card (UHS-I Speed class3) and record hours of 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) material. Recordings are made using the Quicktime (.MOV) file format and are compatible with many popular editing systems. Connect an Ultra HD 4K monitor with a single HDMI cable and view the live 4K signal from the camera. You can also play back recorded files directly from the camera. The GY-HM200 also converts UHD signals to standard HD for output via the built-in SDI or HDMI connectors.
Full HD 4:2:2 recording at 50 Mbps
The GY-HM250 records 4:2:2 HD signals at up to 60p at 50Mbps, making it ideal for HD production in general. 50Mbps files are stored in Quicktime (.MOV) format for easy editing. Conventional AVCHD (4:2:0) recording is also possible, offering wide editing compatibility in a range of standard HD and SD formats.
Two SDHC / SDXC card slots
Two SDHC/SDXC card slots make the GY-HM250 a truly versatile camcorder, offering benefits such as simultaneous recording and relay recording. In relay recording mode, you can film continuously and seamlessly on multiple cards. When one card is full, the camcorder automatically switches to the other. And because the cards are "hot swappable", there's no limit to the amount of time you can shoot continuously in any mode, even with lower-capacity cards.
Web Friendly file formats (proxy)
Lower-resolution H.264 files (480x270p and 960x540p) can be recorded simultaneously with Full HD files. These files are considerably smaller than HD files, making them ideal for immediate publication on the Web. A file recorded in 960 x 540 mode weighs around 1/10th the size of a Full HD file recorded at 35 Mbps, and therefore takes a fraction of the time to post. Smaller files can be quickly imported onto an iPad for easy editing using iMovie or Pinnacle Studio. Transferring video to the web or back to the studio has never been so quick.
