Sony's PXW-Z90V 4K HDR XDCAM camcorder offers phase-detection autofocus (AF) and HDR capabilities in a compact body that fits in your hand. The PXW-Z90V camcorder features a 1 mm Exmor RS CMOS sensor with UHD 440 (3840 x 2160) resolution, a Zeiss 12x optical zoom, an OLED viewfinder and a 3.5" LCD screen. It can record 4K in XAVC Long 4:2:0 format, HD XAVC Long 4:2:2 10-bit, as well as MPEG HD 4: 2: 2 (requires optional license key). S-Log3/S-Gamut3 functions give users additional image control.
The PXW-Z90V's Fast Hybrid AF uses high-density autofocus point positioning and a new AF algorithm to deliver highly accurate focus and tracking when shooting 4K UHD, especially for individual operators. In film recording mode, use the appearance of AF phase detection frames to control the focus of your subject. The PXW-Z90V's 3.5″ screen is used to quickly change focus among subjects. AF transmission speed, tracking depth range and subject switching sensitivity can be configured to suit different subjects and content styles.
Capture images with high contrast and resolution using the Zeiss PXW-Z90V 12x optical zoom and 18x 4K digital zoom (24x in HD). A built-in ND filter function enables greater exposure and depth-of-field control.
The PXW-Z90V camera supports Sony's slow and fast mode for shooting HD video at variable frame rates, including 120 fps. Recording on a variety of formats, frame rates and codecs, the camcorder supports 100 Mb/s XAVC long recording in 4K and UHD at up to 29.97p, and 50 Mb/s for HD at up to 59.94p. Video sequences are recorded on two SD memory card slots, either simultaneously on both cards, or in relay mode to create a backup. The PXW-Z90V's 3G-SDI output enables integration into professional studio environments.
Additional features include integrated 2.4/5 GHz for multiple streams and FTP options. On the audio side, there are two 3-pin XLR audio inputs that support line, microphone and +48V (phantom power) for use with external microphones. You can also use the PXW-Z90V's built-in microphone to record audio while shooting. For multi-camera productions, the PXW-Z90V integrates perfectly with Sony's MCX-500 live switcher (available separately).

The PXW-Z90V features two memory card slots: one for SDHC/SDXC cards and the other compatible with SDHC/SDXC and Memory Stick PRO Duo (Mark 2)/Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo cards.
