Full-format creativity
Produce superb 4K images with maximum creative freedom thanks to oversampling of a large, high-resolution full-frame sensor. Capture every detail of the scene with shallow depth of field and exceptional, cinematic bokeh. A 15+ stop dynamic range and double ISO ensure maximum color and contrast preservation, while offering a lush palette.
Capturing the impossible
Make sure your story is always clear with enhanced autofocus, which tracks your subject with unprecedented speed, finesse and precision. Its impact is dazzling, particularly suited to documentaries, and the tool of choice for advertising and event applications.
Unrivalled portable comfort
The Sony FX9 camera revolutionizes full-frame cinematography with unique ergonomics and advanced technology for shooting on the move. The world's first full-frame electronic variable ND filter transforms shooting possibilities in variable lighting conditions. Integrated Wi-Fi and 12G-SDI technologies support advanced workflows, while the optional XDCA-FX9 expansion unit further extends the operational possibilities of the PXW-FX9.
6K Full Frame "Exmor R" sensor for breathtaking image quality
The camera's full-format 6K sensor offers DCI 4K ( 4096×2160 17:9), Ultra HD and HD recording. Powerful image processing, with layering and sampling, guarantees image quality beyond the limits of traditional Super 35mm sensors. The CMOS image sensor also uses Sony's Exmor R technology to enhance sensitivity and reduce image noise. Compared with a 4K Super 35mm sensor, the FX9's 6K sensor has twice the surface area, while offering a wider angle of view and shallower depth of field.
Dimensions: 146 x 142.5 x 229 mm
Weight 2 kg (camera body) and 4.8 kg (including accessories)
