HyperDeck Extreme Control offers you traditional broadcast recorder controls and integrated editing functions to automate the processing of old videotapes. Combined with the Hyperdeck Extreme, you get a professional recording solution that's easy to use. It features transport buttons, timecode, recorder status, as well as a large thumbwheel with electronic clutch for jog, shuttle and position modes. You can control up to 8 different recorders thanks to the RS-422 standard, which ensures compatibility with any type of recorder! You can even edit between different video standards. In fact, you can up-convert old SD 4:3 interlaced originals to HD 1080p 16:9 using a Teranex Express converter.
Automated assembly between belt and HyperDeck
Integrated editing functions let you edit from recorder to recorder. Just like a traditional recorder, the controller can operate both the HyperDeck recorder and the old broadcast recorder, from the front panel. This allows you to edit old video cassettes. Simply press the play button, enter the in and out points on the tape, select the recorder, then press Edit. The HyperDeck Extreme Control will position and play back the broadcast recorder while recording to the HyperDeck. Most streaming services require 1080p24 originals. To meet these requirements, you can simply add a Teranex Express converter to de-interlace, up-convert, down-convert the aspect ratio and remove pulldown when editing.
Control up to 8 broadcast recorders!
At the top of the HyperDeck Extreme Control, you'll find a row of 8 buttons for recording selection, and another row of 8 buttons for playback selection. The unit includes an integrated remote control router, making it possible to work with multiple recorders. Standard RS-422 connections allow each device to be connected to one of the eight RS-422 ports on the rear. You can even use all 8 ports to control 8 HyperDecks! RS-422 control has been tested to ensure compatibility with older broadcast recorders, such as BVH-2000 1" C-format, D2, Betacam SP and Digital Betacam devices.
Familiar VCR broadcast controls
Hybrid transport controls combine HyperDeck controls with those of a traditional recorder. You benefit from rewind, fast forward, stop, play and record buttons. To protect videotape originals, record by pressing the REC and PLAY buttons! The Eject button ejects cassettes, the Input button switches between EE/PB modes and the PREROLL button positions the tape.
Elegant transport controls
Traditional transport controls are available, such as PLAY, which allows you to stop a recording in progress, then resume playback from this point. To start recording, press the REC and PLAY buttons simultaneously. If you hold down the REC button while the HyperDeck is recording, the map will change! When the REW or F FWD button is pressed, the recorder will fast-forward or rewind at maximum speed. The search direction indicator will also display the scrolling speed. The SKIP REW and SKIP FWD buttons, available when using the HyperDeck, allow you to navigate to the next or previous clip in the recording.
Premium wheel for Jog and Shuttle scrolling
The high-end scroll wheel supports both jog and shuttle. What's more, it features an electronic clutch that allows the wheel to be stopped at the end of shuttle scrolling, or to rotate freely in jog. HyperDeck Extreme Control replaces Vari-Speed with a positioning feature that enables rapid up and down movements during recording. The thumbwheel is equipped with double bearings for free jog rotation.
Timecode and recorder status display
You have a clear display of recorder status and timecode. This display shows the timecode of the selected recorder, and the timecode source switch controls what is displayed on the counter. The horizontal light bar shows the position of the thumbwheel, which is important when working with remote recorders. The Servo LED indicates when the recorder is in playback or recording mode, and whether the slave system is correctly synchronized. As remote recorders always display the time counter and transport status, the Remote LED will tell you if the recorder is remotely controlled. You can even see the reference status of the external video.
Versatile input of entry and exit points for assembly
For editing, you need to enter the input and output points for the remote recorder. Simply select the IN or OUT button and the ENTRY button simultaneously to enter the points. To display each edit point on the counter, press only the IN or OUT button. While the ENTRY button is used to enter data for input and output points, the DELETE button is used to delete them. To trim editing points, you can press the TRIM +/- and IN/OUT buttons simultaneously. Each press will advance or retard the edit point by one frame.
