A new image sensor for greater speed
The new Type 1.0 stacked CMOS image sensor and the latest BIONZ X™ image processing processor bring a new dimension in speed and image quality.
20 fps burst shooting with ultra-precise AF/AE tracking
The new high-speed image sensor enables burst shooting at up to 20 frames/s3. The camera tracks subjects while calculating AF/AE data at up to 60 times/s3, even when subjects are moving in all directions or at high speed.
Shooting without blackout for tracking

New single-shot burst function
The all-new unique burst shooting function5 even captures fast-moving action scenes, such as the moment a tennis racket hits the ball, by taking seven images in succession at a selectable speed of 90, 60 or 30fps. Capture those decisive, hard-to-capture moments. Use it with the self-timer too. JPEG and RAW image formats are supported.
Wide coverage and fast AF speed
The RX100 VII offers a total6 of 357 focal plane phase-detection AF points, covering a total of 68% of the frame. These are complemented by 425 contrast-detection AF points and the world's fastest 0.02 s acquisition time2.
Real-time tracking for moving subjects
Real-time tracking uses subject recognition algorithms (AI)7 that rely on colors, patterns (brightness), subject distance (depth) and facial and eye information to track moving subjects. Maintaining a stable, constant focus on a moving subject lets you capture every important moment of an action in the moment, whether you're shooting still images or making a video recording.

Eye AF real-time focus: images/videos
Sony's advanced eye-tracking and eye-sensing performance makes it possible to capture beautiful portraits. Real-time eye tracking keeps the focus on the moving subject, so you can compose your shot as you wish. Focus on either of the subject's eyes.
Real-time Eye AF for animals
Real-time Eye AF is available for both animals8 and people. Superb animal portraits are now easier than ever.
High-resolution 4K HDR (HLG) recording and stable AF
The camera supports internal 4K12 13 video recording (QFHD: 3840×2160) with full lossless pixel playback. Optimized AF algorithms deliver smooth, stable autofocus. Real-time Eye AF (human) tracking and focusing functions are also available for video. Thanks to HLG capability, enjoy HDR images by connecting your camera to a compatible Sony HDR (HLG) TV via USB cable.
Advanced features for video creators and bloggers
Enhance the look of your vlogs with the RX100 VII compact camera. New touch tracking for videos gives you simple, easy autofocus you can rely on, while real-time human eye tracking ensures precise focus.
