Using BirdDog's custom silicon NDI chip housed in an aircraft-grade aluminum case, the BirdDog Mini encoder is the latest entry point into the world of NDI encoding and decoding. It features HDMI inputs and outputs, active loops, an audio intercom system, NDI Tally, PoE and compatibility with BirdDog's core communications and applications.
NDI decoding. The NDI protocol on screens
With the world's first NDI decoding in hardware, using BirdDog's custom silicon chip, there's never been a faster or easier way to distribute content. The BirdDog Mini can see any Full NDI content on the network, and with the BirdDog Web Console, you can route it to Mini for HDMI output to a screen or projector. Ideal for digital signage, sports stadiums, house of worship, IMAG and any application that needs content on screens. Team Mini with the optional central application and you've got an incredibly easy-to-use and powerful content distribution system.
Full NDI. No compromise
In the world of NDI, there are two protocols, NDI and NDI | HX. NDI is a variable bitrate I-Frame codec that reaches around 140Mbits at 1080p60 and is visually lossless. NDI | HX is a long GOP H.264 compressed variant that reaches around 12Mbits at 1080p60. The Mini can encode and decode full YUV422 NDI.
NDI Encode or decode. Total flexibility
Built with total flexibility in mind, the BirdDog Mini can be configured as an NDI encoder or NDI decoder with a simple click of a button via the Web console. In Encode Mini mode, it's the ideal way to bring your HDMI sources into the world of NDI, and supports up to 1080p60.
Extreme speed. All around the silicon
BirdDog's revolutionary custom silicon chip drives the world's best NDI products. Only BirdDog hardware can perform in-line processing to deliver the fastest NDI encoding or decoding technically possible.
Tally
The world's first NDI Tally system is integrated directly into the BirdDog Mini and requires no configuration. It features a large built-in Tally display so your on-air talent can easily see which camera is live, plus user-selectable Tally borders on a loop and an external Tally output.
PoE, DC, D-Tap
The BirdDog Mini can be powered via PoE or D-Tap from your camera's battery. No need for an AC adapter, although there's one in the box if you need it.
Resistance and modern design
When the fingers first touch the anodized aluminum case that houses the multi-layer circuit board, it's easier to imagine the BirdDog Mini on display at the Louvre Museum in Paris than on a live video production set, but that's where the senses are first disappointed. The housing created from aircraft-grade aluminum stands up to the rigors of life on the road.
VESA or Camera Mount
With optional VESA and camera mounts, the Mini is extremely easy to mount wherever you need it. Use the VESA bracket to attach to screens, or simply attach the camera bracket to add ¼-20" screws for easy mounting with ball joints, magic arms and other traditional mounting equipment.
