Designed to meet the exacting requirements of professional cameramen and their assistants, the OConnor O-Focus Dual Mini is a compact, direct-drive tracking unit, operable from both sides, optimized for camera lenses.
The precision worm gear on the main bridge offers a transmission ratio of 1:0.75. This means that manual rotation through 360 degrees translates into 270 degrees of worm rotation. The two versions of the O-Focus DM, Photo Set and Cine Set, are equipped with different knobs to apply a different transmission, thus optimizing rotation according to lens type.
Modular, the O-Focus DM allows framers who wish to switch from photo to cinema lenses to optimize the transmission ratio with ease:
simply exchange the knob(s); no tools are required.
Both versions of the O-Focus DM feature an extremely low profile, enabling them to be used with large-diameter lenses. Their sliding dovetail design allows adjustment for a wide variety of lenses, even those with very large diameters. In addition, tapered side flanges (introduced for the first time on the OConnor CFF-1) eliminate play between the knob and the bridge.
The O-Focus DM easily accommodates existing tracking accessories such as control offsets, cranks and toothed wheels. It is also compatible with many of the CFF-1's accessories, such as the Studio wheel and marker discs, the wheel extension and the 15/19 mm Studio bridge. The new
non-toothed friction motor for photo lenses largely eliminates the need for additional gearwheels.
Extremely compact, two-sided bridge.
Direct drive without swivel arm.
Adaptable to different lens diameters by means of a sliding dovetail
.
Compatible with large-diameter lenses.
The photo kit offers an unprecedented gear ratio of 1:0.75
with photo lenses.
Modular design allows
transmission ratio to be optimized when exchanging wheels.
O-Focus DM Photo Set
The Photo Set features a new thumbwheel with a 1:1 transmission ratio (input:output). Coupled with the O-Focus bridge, it offers unprecedented tracking performance with a transmission ratio of 1:0.75. This makes it possible to achieve more precise focusing with the limited-rotation photo lenses used in digital cinema, with a precision of lens control unheard of on this type of
configuration. A small change in ratio can therefore make a big difference to user comfort.
The stops enable the framer to define minimum and maximum focus distances for limited-rotation lenses, facilitating long adjustments. To enable the first assistant to react to unexpected movements, an exclusive
manual switch instantly releases the stops, allowing essential adjustments to be made during shooting.
O-FocusDM Cine Set
The Cine Set uses the existing CFF-1 Studio wheel and offers a transmission ratio of 1:1.8 (input:output). Coupled with the O-Focus bridge, it offers a transmission ratio of
1:1.4, perfect for wide-focus cinema lenses.
The Studio wheel is offset, enabling it to rotate 360 degrees for optimum positioning, without losing sight of the lens markings. The
camera can thus be placed on the ground without weight resting on the knob.
