The MT830R is designed for use in professional applications where an external power supply is already available. It requires phantom power from 9 to 52V DC, which can be supplied by a mixer or console, or by an independent source to be connected in series, such as Audio-Technica's AT8801 single-channel phantom power supply or CP8506 four-channel phantom power supply.
The output of the power supply module is low-impedance balanced, on a 3-pin XLRM socket. The balanced signal is between pins 2 and 3, with the hotspot in two (the positive voltage on the hotspot is generated by positive acoustic pressure on the capsule). Ground (shield) is on pin 1.
