Includes everything you need to extract 4 analog or 8 digital AES/EBU audio channels from any SDI video source. Now you can easily access audio signals from any SDI video connection, so you can connect outputs to audio mixers, professional analog VTRs, analog monitors and more.
Automatic switching between SD and HD
The mini-converters instantly switch between high-definition and standard-definition formats, taking effect as soon as the input video signal changes. A wide range of video standards are supported, including NTSC, PAL, 1080i/59.94, 1080i/50, 1080psf/23.98, 1080psf/24, 720p/59.94 and 720p/50, but other formats can easily be added via the USB connection.
Redundant SDI input
Mini-converters offer a redundant input, ideal for one-off events such as broadcasts or live programs. You can connect a second cable to the second input, and if the main input fails due to a damaged cable or for any other reason, the mini-converter automatically switches to the second, redundant input. This unique feature lets you use mini-converters in tricky situations where crowds or the environment can cause problems. An SDI loop-through output is also provided for connection to other peripherals. An SDI loop-through output is particularly useful if you need more than two audio channels, as you can connect the loop-through output to another mini converter to extract the extra audio channels.
New 3 Gbit SDI technology
The mini-converters are among the first products on the market to offer 3 Gbit SDI technology as standard, and updates can be downloaded via the integrated USB connection to ensure full compatibility with future video formats. Of course, 3 Gbit SDI is fully compatible with standard and high-definition video equipment.
Integrated analog or AES/EBU audio
Standard 1/4″ jacks are integrated to support balanced analog audio or AES/EBU digital audio. Since mini converters use 1/4″ jack connectors for all audio connections, you can use the standard cables available from studios and pro audio stores. Unlike other types of converters, mini converters don't need any special cables, as any 1/4″ jack cable can be used. Mini converters are also unique in their ability to use the same 1/4″ jack connections for analog or digital audio signals. This means you only need one type of converter to handle both analog and digital audio. You can select the type of audio format using the switches on the side of the converter. On modes with AES/EBU digital audio input, a sampling converter lets you connect any AES/EBU source, synchronized or not. On HDMI models, you also have full access to the audio signals embedded in the HDMI video connection.
Very high quality
The mini converters are manufactured to the highest quality standards, with very low SDI flicker, enabling you to use very long lengths of SDI cable. They combine multiple internal power supplies to minimize noise levels for analog broadcast audio and video. Unlike other types of converters, mini-converters do not incorporate second-tier components to reduce cost. What's more, the mini converters use the same analog video signal processing design as the most advanced product in the Blackmagic range, the Multibridge Eclipse!
Universal power supply
Unlike other types of converter, a universal power supply is included with plug adapters for most countries. This means you can use the mini-converters in any part of the world, and connect them directly to the various plug models available. To prevent unintentional disconnection of the power supply, a locking mechanism for the power connector is included as standard.
