Highlights :
- Flat, extended frequency response with a slight rise in the high-frequency region
- Low-mass diaphragm improves transient response, increasing response bandwidth and reducing the
transfer of mechanical and handling noise
- Transformerless circuit for virtually no low-frequency distortion and
excellent transient response
- Rugged turned-brass microphone body for long-lasting reliability
- State-of-the-art design and manufacturing techniques ensure compliance with A-T's stringent consistency and reliability standards
The AT4041 is intended for use in professional applications where an external
power supply is already available. It requires 48V DC phantom power, which can be supplied by a mixer or console, or by an independent source to be connected in series, such as Audio-Technica's AT8801 single-channel phantom power supply or CP8506 four
channels.
The output of the microphone's XLRM-type connector is balanced low impedance (Lo-Z). The signal is located on pins 2 and 3; pin 1 corresponds to ground (shield). The output phase is pin 2 "hot spot" - positive sound pressure generates a positive voltage at pin 2.
To avoid phase cancellation and poor sound quality, all microphone cables should be connected consistently: pin 1 to pin 1, etc.
A built-in 80 Hz high-pass filter makes it easy to switch between flat frequency response and bass attenuation. The high-pass position is used to make the microphone less sensitive to "pops" when used close-up on vocals. It also serves to reduce sensitivity to low-frequency ambient noise (from traffic, ventilation systems, etc.), room reverberation and mechanically coupled vibrations.
Avoid leaving the microphone in direct sunlight or in locations where the temperature exceeds 43°C (110°F) for extended periods. Excessive humidity should also be avoided.
