Introducing Zeiss CP.3 18 mm T2.9 (Canon EF, metric)
The Zeiss CP.3 18mm T2.9 (Canon EF, metric) is part of the ZEISS CP.3 family, the latest contribution from ZEISS to support creativity and progress in filmmaking, with a range of affordable, future-proof, high-quality optics.
ZEISS CP.3 lenses offer the perfect combination of high image quality and ease of use. They exhibit the expertise for which ZEISS is known, with an interchangeable mount system and full-frame coverage.
The ZEISS CP.3 XD features innovative optics technology to speed up and simplify workflow on set and in post-production.
The unique ZEISS eXtended Data technology, based on /i Technology, provides information about image distortion and shadow characterization in real time. With ZEISS CP.3 XD lenses, even small productions with limited budgets can gain access to cutting-edge technology used in big-budget films, TV series and advertising.
ZEISS Compact Prime CP.3 and CP.3 XD lenses for a true cinema look!Ranging from 15 mm to 135 mm, the ten focal lengths available in the ZEISS Compact Prime CP.3 or CP.3 XD series cover all applications from wide-angle to telephoto. ZEISS CP.3 optics feature advanced coatings, painted edges and special light traps to eliminate unwanted glare and flare in the barrel. The result is higher contrast, richer blacks and more color saturation. - Clear, flawless ZEISS image perfectly matches other ZEISS cinema optics |

The new ZEISS eXtended Data technologyZEISS eXtended Data technology adds new opportunities to simplify and increase the accuracy of image capture and processing workflow. ZEISS eXtended Data unifies two types of information: key optics information, based on the open i/Technology (supported by a wide range of cameras and accessories), and a specific ZEISS information stream containing precise lens characteristics. |

The ultimate in cine ergonomicsThe ZEISS CP.3 lens is a truly professional tool that simplifies your work on the set. Easy to handle and equip, it gives you great creative freedom. - Extraordinarily precise ring rotation, even at extreme temperatures, thanks to a sophisticated new design |
|
A new definition of "compact- Thanks to its compact, lightweight design, you can use different stabilization systems (gimbal, drone, steadical), shoot in tight spaces or capture dynamic subjects. |
Zeiss CP3 optics highlights:
- A professional tool with many advantages
- Connecting production and post-production work
Regardless of the size of the production or the number of people on the team, ZEISS CP.3 XD lenses benefit both large teams and individual operators. ZEISS eXtended Data technology will speed up workflow and facilitate collaboration between production and post-production departments.

ZEISS eXtended data processing options
The ZEISS CP.3 XD provides a complete solution for recording data for on-set or post-production applications. ZEISS eXtended data is recorded and processed frame by frame in real time. Data can be transferred in two ways. Either to any compatible equipment via an external LEMO® * compatible socket, or to any camera compatible with i/ standard technology, via a 4-pin interface (PL-mount). With the additional ZEISS plug-in, compatible with all major compositing and editing software, lens characteristics can be removed and/or reapplied to images.
Get the extended warranty
It is now possible to register not only fixed lenses, but also ZEISS Compact Prime CP.2 and ZEISS Compact Prime CP.3 lenses online, and thus receive a 2-year extended warranty.
Once the product is registered on the ZEISS website, a ZEISS warranty is given to end-users, owners or operators (only) of ZEISS cinema lenses. Online registration of ZEISS cinema lenses is possible up to four weeks after purchase. The ZEISS Extended Warranty is available in many countries, but warranty claims can only be made in the country where the product was purchased.
Unique ZEISS eXtended Data technology
Visual effects specialist, producer and director Scott E. Anderson had the chance to test the ZEISS Compact Primes CP.3 XD range of lenses for the first time. This director will guide you through the various stages of creating visual effects with minimal means, using ZEISS eXtended Data. ZEISS eXtended Data is a unique technology based on /i Technology, which provides information about image distortion and shadow characterization in real time. With ZEISS CP.3 XD lenses, even small productions with limited budgets now have access to cutting-edge technology used in big-budget films, TV series and advertising.
ZEISS eXtended Data: extend your possibilities.
On set, the key elements of ZEISS eXtended Data enable team members to control optical parameters in real time, preview modified images and use new automated search functions within the information flow. In post-production, ZEISS eXtended Data offers numerous benefits, such as image fine-tuning, color editing and grading, visual effects, virtual and augmented reality, multi-cam live productions, projections and 3-D imaging. An additional plug-in supplied by ZEISS makes it easy to implement ZEISS eXtended Data in a wide range of software tools.
ZEISS eXtended Data reduces workflow costs and facilitates the exchange of optical information between production and post-production departments.
ZEISS eXtended Data unifies two information functions:
Key optical information
ZEISS eXtended Data is based on /i Technology and is supported by a wide range of cameras and accessories. The key information provided is :
- Lens name, type and focal length
- Calibrated focus distance
- Calibrated T-stop value
- Real-time depth-of-field information and hyperfocal distance
- Horizontal viewpoint
- Pupil entrance position
Specific information on ZEISS optics
ZEISS CP.3 XD lenses enable innovative, one-click image correction never before possible in cinematography. The specific information provided by ZEISS optics is :
- Optical distortion characteristics based on focal point
- Optical shading characteristics based on focal point and effective T-stop
Enhancement options on CP.3 XD optics
CP.3 XD optics feature in-house processors, encoded to deliver the ZEISS eXtended Data tool, currently assigned to two types of data:
- Key optical information (focal length, focus distance and iris position) based on i Technology, which is supported by a wide range of existing equipment.
- Information specific to ZEISS optics, including precise distortion and shadow data.
ZEISS eXtended Data technology is planned to be extended in the future to offer additional features. As a result, ZEISS will be offering updates to the optics' firmware.
Lens characteristics can be applied and previewed on the shoot using Pomfort LiveGrade Pro. ZEISS supplies an OFX plug-in for applying saved parameters to lenses. The plug-in works as standard with Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve software. Support for other editing software will be available in the future.
