1/2.3 CMOS sensor and 12x zoom for the GY-HM170
The GY-HM170's image quality has two sources. The first is a 12x optical zoom lens (35mm equivalent: 29.5-354). The second is the 12.5Mpixel 4K CMOS sensor. Ipso facto, it offers enhanced sensitivity and excellent performance across a wide range of lighting conditions. In HD, dynamic zoom and pixel mapping can be combined to create a perfect x24 zoom. This gives the camcorder a powerful and efficient zoom. You'll also appreciate the three-position ND filters: 0, ¼ and 1/16.
4K UHD recording at 150Mbps and Live output
4K has never been so docile. With an SD card (UHS-I Speed class3), you can record in 4K ultra HD. Recordings are in Quicktime format, making them compatible with the vast majority of editing software. Connect a 4K monitor via HDMI and get your live 4K stream!
Full HD 4:2:2 recording at 50Mbps
The GY-HM170 records a 4:2:2 HD signal at up to 60p at 50Mpbs, making it ideal for HD production workflows. Files are recorded in .MOV or AVCHD, for enhanced compatibility.
Using two SDHC / SDXC cards
Two SD memory card slots make the GY-HM170 a versatile and practical camcorder, with the option of recording in relay or simultaneous mode. In relay mode, you can shoot continuously on multiple memory cards. They can be hot-removed, so you can multiply the changes to shoot continuously on many more than two cards.
The GY-HM170, a camcorder "thought connected
Low-resolution H264 files can be recorded simultaneously with full HD files. Significantly lighter than HD files, they are ideal for immediate posting on the web. The lightest files can even be edited directly on the iPad via iMovie or Pinnacle Studio.
